Tassel Cardigan

As previously mentioned I brought a few items from the lovely Sue Ryder store in Forrest Hill last week and this post is about a pretty tassel cardigan which I picked up:

£8.95, Sue Ryder

I am in love with this Cardigan, it is the warmest, comfiest thing ever! I have a lot of deadlines on at the moment, and this is great for throwing on to go to the library or to study. With all the lovely weather we have been having at the moment this keeps me perfectly warm on its own, so I can leave my coat at home! I really like the way it falls like a scarf and also the tassels, tassels seem to be on trend at the moment especially with the festival/folk look that can be spotted in many high street stores. I will definitely be taking this to any festivals this summer.

Floral Patterned Shirt

This is the first post about some lovely items that I brought from Sue Ryder in Forrest Hill (South East London) this weekend. The first buy is a floral, vintage, patterned shirt, I am over the moon with this buy! I think it is a one off piece, as I didn't recognise the brand which I normally view as a good thing, as its means you are more likely not to see everyone else wearing it. In general I think that charity shops are great places if you want an individual unique look, and I think it's great to have wardrobe which is different from everyone else.

So here it is:

£6.95

Floral Dress

Shirt- H&M
Dress- Urban Outfitters
Shoes-Topshop

Bargain of the outfit: Urban Outfitters Dress

I picked this dress up in the Urban Outfitters sale for just under £20, I was pretty happy with this buy as originally the dress was £42. I think that this is great for the summer although at the moment I'm wearing it as a pinafore dress. I love the pinafore look, as not only does it look nice but it's also so practical. It means that you can wear all your summery dresses and still stay warm. Also the chunky sandal shoes are going to be great for the summer, I always wear thick tights or socks to keep my feet warm at the moment but in the summer I can wear them just as sandals, which saves me having to buy some more summer shoes. I really like having clothes and shoes that I can wear all year around as I think it's better value for money.

Hopefully it wont be too long until I can wear a summer version of this outfit, yippee!

Emma Dilemma

FARA Jumper

Jumper- FARA charity shop
T-shirt, joni jeans and hat- Topshop
Hooped earrings- Carrie Elspeth

Bargain of the outfit : FARA Jumper

Incase you haven't already read my blog post about the jumper, it was originally from Urban Outfitters and I picked it up for £12 in FARA charity shop, a definate bargain!

I know I'm not supposed to have two bargains of the outfit, but the hat was also a great buy at £5, it was from the Topshop sale and was orignally £12. I find that this time of the year is a great time to buy hats and winter essentials as we still have a few cold months to go and all the shops have great sale on these items. Also come october (yes, it's only 6 months away) you'll be back in your coat and wooly hats again. Hats are great at keeping you warm too, as well as hats I am really into hooped earrings at the moment (as long at they are not to heavy). The ones I am wearing are from  Carrie Elspeth and are lovely to wear, they are silver so don't irritate my ears and are just so light. I think hooped earrings are so versatile to as you can wear them in the day or on a night out.

Fine Knit Jumper

Shirt, Necklace and Jumper- H&M
Trousers- Topshop

Bargain of the outfit: Fine Knit Jumper

I brought this jumper a couple of weeks ago from H&M, at full price it was £12.99 but that week they had a special discount offer with UNiDAYS where they were offering 20% of all items in store. So I picked it up for a reasonable £10.39. UNiDAYS are great for any students out there, it's free to sign up (as long as you are a student) and offer lots of discount off various stores. It means that you never have to pay full price for anything, yipee!

Hope you enjoyed my first outfit of the day.

Change

After 6 months of blogging my blog has changed and adapted a lot. I have really enjoyed blogging, but I feel that more change is needed. Lately I have been very busy with my third year of University (no excuses) but I'm looking for a way to blog more to keep myself and readers more engaged in a way that fits around my time. So, I have decided to add some #OOTD or #TIW post's to my blog. All of you fashion bloggers out there I am sure are very familiar with these hashtags,  but for any of you who are not #OOTD stands for Outfit of the Day and #TIW stands for Today I'm Wearing. When incorporated into blogs they are great way to get fashion inspiration which is something I have taken from these posts when reading fashion blogs over the past few months. I have decided to create my own posts, as I thought it would be a great way to put some of my charity shop finds and and bargains into context. I hope you enjoy my future outfits of the day and also a daily quote too!

The Holiday Bid Game

Dear Reader,

Many of us (me included) want to travel or even have a holiday every now and then, but unfortunately due to money circumstances this isn't always possible. However, today's post is about The Holiday Bid Game which provides you with the opportunity to win a holiday or other lovely gifts with the lowest unique bid! This website is great for students (although we often love travelling we rarely have the money to do so) and anyone who likes holidays for that matter.

Often sites that promote winning a holiday are not very trust worthy and the 'winner' can be exploited and be ripped off, but this company could not be anymore different. My sister is the commercial director for The Holiday Bid Game (some of you may recognise her in reference to her Plutonium Sox blog which I sometimes talk about, she is after all the one who got me into blogging) so I can confirm this site is more than genuine and the previous winners can do the same!

How to play:

For a chance to win a holiday you have to bid on one of the holidays up for grabs on the site. Bid packs start as low as £5, and you can get 6 bids for this price. You then have to make an attempt at the lowest unique bid for this auction. When the auction closes, if your bid is the lowest unique one then you win the holiday. Previous winners have won trips to Thailand (for 93p) and France (for 16p). Current auctions on the site include a week for two in the South of France, and a week in New Quay for SEVEN of your friends/family, how cool would that be as a post exam treat?

South of France for two?
Cottage in New Quay for seven?
What's brilliant about this company is that 10% of any profits that they make go to Maternity Worldwide, this is one of my favourite charities. Maternity Worldwide work hard to save lives in childbirth in parts of the world where dying in giving birth and pregnancy is likely but can be easily prevented. The Holiday Bid Game also run charity auctions where all the profits go to Maternity Worldwide and are currently running a recipe book auction.

And it's not just holidays! There are currently some mini auctions on some lovely handmade products made by Meebee Designs, who has created exclusive beautiful handcrafted luggage tags and a passport covers which can be won in the mini auctions. And with a maximum of 50 bids allowed on the small auctions,  the odd of winning are ever in your favour!

So good luck and remember you've got to be in it to win it!

Emma Dilemma

A letter from Emma about: Reading the Classics

Dear Reader,

This post is about two 'great' books I picked up from my local charity shop this week. In general I  spend a lot of time travelling whether its to work, university or the long, long journey home,
however I've noticed that I'm not doing anything productive with this time... It's time to change that! So I thought I'd start making my way through the classics, there are so many books which I haven't read and I thought this would be a productive way to spend my time travelling.

I went into Books For Amnesty, many of you I'm sure are aware of Amnesty International's charitable work, however what I wasn't aware of was their extensive collection second hand books which they sell in Books For Amnesty. Their stock just as good if not better than most commercial book stores.

Here are my two buys:

The staff were really helpful and said that the other classic books that I was looking for will more than likely come into stock in the next few months and to return then. Each book cost me £2 and my favourite part is that all the money goes to charity.
I think that the Charles Dickens book is particularly beautiful and I know that I would not have got an edition like this if I brought one brand new. I also think that this shop is brilliant if you are not too sure what book you want to read next, as then you can just let the fate of the stock decided for you.

Yours,

Emma Dilemma
